Laminating in ambient temperatures below 5°C is not recommended. GRP roofs should not be laid on frozen roof decks as the GRP will de-laminate.
How Long will a GRP roof last?
A properly installed GRP roof should last more than 50 years and show no real signs of deterioration if installed by a specialist GRP Roofing company.
Laminating in ambient temperatures above 35°C is not recommended. On hot days it is best to cover the roof as much as possible and only uncover when necessary. Use smaller quantities than normal and use shorter rolls to laminate. Check the roof surface temperature before applying topcoat. If it is too hot the curing of the topcoat may be disrupted and stay tacky. It is best to laminate and topcoat at the coolest parts of the day.
Simply enter the square meterage of your roof deck into our Material Calculator for estimated quantities of the required materials.
After the rain stops, use a towel to soak up any surface water. Once excess water has been removed from the roof surface you can speed up the drying process by wiping acetone over the roof surface. Remember, you must make sure that the surface is fully dried before applying GRP to the roof deck or top-coating.
No. GRP roofs must be laid only in dry conditions. If it starts to rain whilst you are installing the GRP, it is best to stop immediately and cover the roof with a tarpaulin or DPM sheeting to help keep the roof as dry as possible.
